1. The short version

Your photos never leave your device. All file conversion on ShiftRaw happens locally in your web browser. Your images are never uploaded to our servers, never stored, never processed remotely, and never seen by anyone but you. Once the page has loaded, you can even disconnect from the internet and the converter will keep working.

2. What we do not collect

  • Your photos — no upload, no temporary server-side storage, no queue.
  • No accounts: we don't have your name, email, or password, because there is no sign-up.
  • No file history: converted files exist only in your browser's memory until you download them or close the tab.

3. What is collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider and analytics service may collect standard, non-identifying technical data when you visit: pages visited, approximate region (usually country level), browser type, device type, operating system, and referral source. This data is used only in aggregate to understand traffic and improve the site. It is not linked to any personal identity, because we don't hold one to link it to.

Server access logs may also record IP address, timestamp and requested URL for security and abuse prevention. Logs are retained only as long as necessary for that purpose.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

ShiftRaw itself sets no tracking cookies, and no cookie is required to use the converters. Any cookies you encounter come from third parties (analytics and advertising) as described below. Where consent is required by law, non-essential cookies are only set after you give consent, and you may withdraw that consent at any time.

5. Advertising (Google AdSense)

ShiftRaw is free and supported by advertising. We do not sell your photos, your files, or any account data — because we hold none.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and/or other websites on the internet.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) enables Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and other sites.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendors' cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices or networkadvertising.org/choices.
  • Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are shown a consent notice before non-essential advertising cookies are set. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalized.
  • We never ask visitors to click on ads, and we never reward ad clicks. Please do not click ads to "support" the site — it puts the project at risk.

Advertisers and ad networks may act as independent controllers of the data they collect through their own technologies. Their handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policies.

6. Your rights

If you are in the EEA or the UK (GDPR / UK GDPR), you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or port your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA), you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

Because we do not operate accounts and do not identify visitors, we usually cannot associate any data with you personally. To exercise any of these rights, email contact@shiftraw.com and we will respond within the period required by applicable law.

7. Data retention and international transfers

Aggregate analytics data is retained only for as long as needed to understand site usage. Our hosting, analytics and advertising providers may process limited technical data (such as IP-derived country) on servers located outside your country of residence, including the United States, under appropriate safeguards.

8. Children's privacy

ShiftRaw is a general-audience tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the "last updated" date above will be revised and the changes will be noted on this page.
